Purchased in 1939 by Renton W. Meininger, Sr., the Meininger family still owns and manages the company to this day. Renton W. Meininger, Jr., the current CEO worked with his father, a gunsmith, for years before taking over the company in 1964. As an experienced merchant seaman, gunsmith, machinist, and boat builder, Ren continues to oversee the operations at Naval Company Inc, preferring to be hands on.

Line throwing guns have been around since the late 1800’s when numerous disasters near the U.S. coastline prompted funding for lifesaving equipment. Early Lyle guns and line throwing guns were used by the U.S.C.G. to successfully reach stranded vessels near shore during treacherous storms or rough water. During WWII Naval Company manufactured and sold Lyle guns.

The Bridger™ Shoulder Line Throwing Gun has been around for at least 70 years. It has been certified by the U.S. Coast Guard and upgraded significantly during that time. In addition, long-range projectiles, float projectiles, and grapnel hooks have been added to the product line. The company has always welcomed innovative ideas or suggestions to improve products, and of course – stories about customer experiences and successful applications.
